Fontana dei Leoni

This fountain is situated in the centre of Piazza del Popolo Square, one of the most famous places in Rome, at the foot of Pincian hill.

The architect Giuseppe Valadier, who projected a brand new layout of the square, had the idea of placing the Lion Fountain on a flight of steps at the centre of it, with four edges of the obelisk surrounded by a quartet of Egyptian lions sending sheets of water splashing into basins at their paws.

The restoration work, which ONE had the great chance to take part in 2015, was portion of a wider project of Rome municipality, aiming the renovation of four significant fountains.
